POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The CDL Driver provides customer service pumping and driving services to assigned jobs. The CDL Driver is responsible for successful completion of jobs with regards to company specific goals for Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost. Jobs are spread across the Chattanooga, Cleveland, and Dalton GA metro area. Responsibilities on each job may include but are not limited to troubleshooting, identifying the root cause of the problem, developing a solution, implementing the solution, explaining the issue and solution to the customer, collecting payment from customers, presenting the value proposition of Metro’s services including Home Care Club Membership and completing all required administrative duties accurately and on time.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The person in this position should be a customer focused and highly motivated individual. The CDL Driver must have a strong and proven background in driving commercial vehicles. The person should have demonstrated the ability to successfully handle customer interactions. The CDL Driver must understand the technical aspects of septic systems and filed lines.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The CDL Driver reports directly to and is fully accountable to the Operations Manager.
The CDL Driver is required to work directly with the Dispatcher and maintain constant communication with the Dispatcher throughout the day.
The CDL Driver does not have any direct reports but may be assigned to work with other CDL Drivers, CDL Driver trainees or other Metro PHA field employees on occasion.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Required: High School
Education Preferred: Completion of Vocational School
Licensing / Registration / Certification: Valid CDL class B drivers’ license with tankers endorsement and clean driving record.
Work Experience Preferred: 2-3 years commercial driving experience preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Fluent English with reading, written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to use Service Titan program effectively and accurately.Knowledge of pump and dump truck usage. Knowledge of septic system and function.
Mental: Requires basic math skills. Must be able to perform troubleshooting of septic related issues. Requires communication regarding work completed, work remaining to be completed and ability to give accurate estimates regarding time to completion of outstanding work.
Must have strong interpersonal skills in order to maintain excellent working relationships with customers and co-workers.
Must have ability to work off-shifts including nights and weekends as required to meet needs of the business.
WORKING CONDITIONS
It is estimated that the 5% of the time will be spent in an office environment, with a controlled temperature and 95% of the time will be spent outside the office. Time spent at job sites, are subject to extremes of heat and humidity up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit or cold, including exposure to a deep freeze down to 20 degrees below zero. There will be exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, and high noise levels. There will be exposure to hazardous materials including, but not limited to: fumes produced by cleaning, painting and welding of parts. Hours will be as scheduled. There will be travel to and from job sites, the normal auto travel hazards will apply. Travel will be in all types of weather including heavy rain and below freezing temperatures with snow and ice conditions. Workdays will be from 8 to 12 plus hours per day and could include some early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
Compensation would be $15-$25
